...for VAs and other online support professionals who want to offer a complete level of service to their clients...

From the desk of: Tina Forsyth & Cindy Greenway

Dear Fellow VA,

  • Do you wish you were able to do basic website maintenance for your clients (and yourself?)

  • Are you tired of having to wait hours (sometimes days!) for your already busy webmaster to be able to make a small change on your client's websites?

  • Are you losing potential clients because you aren't yet able to offer website maintenance along with your current repetoire of skills?

Clients Prefer to Hire a Virtual Assistant Who is Able to Take Care of all Their Needs - Not Just a Few Things Here and There.

You may already know all the 'hot skills' that clients are hiring for (shopping cart, autoresponders, blog maintenance and such). The problem is, if you are missing basic website design skills then you are only able to take most of your projects 95% of the way to the finish line.

  • You can setup a new product in the shopping cart, but have to send the 'buy button' code to a webmaster to load up onto the webpage.

  • You can gather everything needed for a free teleseminar registration page but are unable to actually put together a simple webpage so that people can start signing up.

  • You can create an online recording play button and MP3 download but are not able to load the button up to the playback webpage.

The Result Is A Headache for All Concerned...

Without these skills, it means that you are always having to bring in a third-party person (a webmaster or other web design professional) everytime you need to make a change to your client's websites.

Not only does this mean more delay in the process (with changes sometimes taking much longer than you would like!) there is more room for error when you have more people involved.

Let's take a look at a couple of scenarios:

Working WITHOUT basic web design skills...

Your client is doing a teleseminar next week and asks you to make sure their teleseminar page gets updated with the new date, description and registration information. You send the information to their webmaster, who turns out to be super busy and promises she will try to get to it tomorrow.

It's tomorrow and you are begging the webmaster to make these changes... at the very end of the day she finally has some time for you. Great! She sends you the updated page that night and much to your dismay you find out that she accidently put the wrong date on the page.

You call her the next morning and end up leaving a voicemail asking her to make this one last change as your client wants to announce the teleseminar right away. By noon you still haven't heard from her and remember that today is a non-working day for her... yipes! You aren't sure how to make the changes yourself, and your client is getting upset with the delay.

Later that night the webmaster logs onto her computer and is quickly able to make that change for you. The page is FINALLY ready to send - a couple days later than your client wanted. If only you could have made these changes yourself! It would have saved alot of frustration for both you and your client.

Working WITH basic web design skills...

Your client is doing a teleseminar next week and asks you to make sure their teleseminar page gets updated with the new date, description and registration information. You create a new teleseminar page from her existing website template, load it up and test it. Everything looks great, and the teleseminar is ready to announce the same day.

DONE! No fuss no muss (and less grey hair for you!)

These two scenarios speak for themselves - having basic website design skills will help both your and your clients to complete projects in a much more timely manner.

We highly recommend adding basic website design and maintenance skills to your Virtual Assistant Porfolio.

Here are a few of the things that you will be able to do once you have basic website design and maintenance skills under your belt:

  • make simple changes to existing webpages - know how to work CORRECTLY within your clients existing website design templates so you can make simple changes and not mess up their website

  • create teleseminar registration webpages - taking the 'custom form' code from the shopping cart and creating an automated registration page that is ready to promote

  • setup a basic 'pink spoon' lead generation webpage - so that your clients can start to build their list as part of their overall marketing strategy

  • setup a simple sales page - given sales copy from your client you will be able to create an effective sales page using a template we will provide in the training

  • create a newsletter or ezine template - using our simple ezine template you will be able to insert a header and basic graphics to create a professional ezine for your clients

  • make simple changes within a Wordpress blog - including how to add plugins, adding an opt-in form and changing basic settings

This is the only Basic Website Design & Maintenance class created especially for Virtual Assistants!

There are certainly plenty of web design courses out there, most of which will teach you how to design a website from scratch. As a VA you simply don't need to know how to do that, as most of your clients already have a website - they just need someone to make ongoing changes and updates to their existing website.

So why waste valuable time, money and effort learning skills that you don't need? We are huge fans of keeping it simple, and as such will be teaching you the basic website design and maintenance skills that we KNOW clients are looking for.

During this training you will learn:

    • HTML code basics, so you understand the language 'behind' the webpage

    • how to apply Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) as a best practice in website design

    • how to use FREE FTP software to upload and download pages

    • why Dreamweaver is the web design software we use and recommend (and why you should stay away from Frontpage)

    • how to work with a client's existing website template, so that you can make changes and don't mess up their design (we've seen this happen time and again when a VA does not truly understand basic website design.)
    • how to add a simple opt-in form to their existing website, or to a simple 'pink spoon' lead generation page

    • how to setup a sales page using a pre-defined template that we will give to you in this training

    • how to make basic changes within a Wordpress blog template (called a theme) so that you can add things like opt-in pages, plugins and more

For That Matter - Let's Be Clear on What This Course is NOT:

This course will not teach you how to design a website from scratch. We are NOT going to teach you how to create graphics, how to cut up a design and put it together into an overall website template. Those are the skills of a graphic designer, not a VA (and if you are interested in those skills there are plenty of courses out there to learn them).

And this course will only cover 'on page' website design and maintenance - we will not be teaching you how to use the shopping cart, autoresponders and other online based systems that function behind the scenes of our webpages. If you are interested in learning those skills we invite you to check out our Hot Skills VA Training program.

The videos and class notes are a hugely valuable resource. If you're looking for a way to increase your value to your clients or you want to broaden your career path, I highly recommend taking the Hot Skills VA Training!"

"There are very little resources in which VA’s help other VA’s to succeed and remain a constant support to each other. [Generally] top VA’s are not willing to help other VA businesses, let alone set up a structured course that is more affordable than paying for hourly VA coaching.

Tina and Cindy teach the knowledge VA’s need to know to start and keep a successful VA business, and they are also eager to answer any questions we may have, at any time. (I constantly ask questions, even if they aren’t out loud, and I felt encouraged to ask if I didn’t understand something and not feel bad if I didn’t catch on as quickly as my classmates)."

 ~ Sandra Nicole Concepcion

"Thanks for a great training you guys. I just wish more VA's would take advantage of such good training. Money and time always seems to get in the way but if they knew what they didn't know, I think it would knock them off their seats....just my rant...."

Basic Website Design & Maintenance
for Virtual Assistants
A 4-Week Live Training Program for VAs who want to
add that final piece to their skills portfolio.

We'll be quite honest - neither Cindy or I are equipped to teach this course!

Although we both have basic website design and maintenance skills, we are a bit 'behind the times' when it comes to knowing the best practices for doing proper website maintenance.

Which is why we are THRILLED to have a new instructor joining the faculty of Hot Skills VA Training just to teach this program - Amy Taggart of Design Formare.

Amy Suzanne Taggart
Amy Taggart has been doing web design for 10 years and has been working as a VA now for 2 years. So she brings the 'best of both worlds' to the table - great web design skills and the experience of being a VA for her clients.

Amy has worked with a variety of clients, doing everything from blog design, logo design to full on 'from scratch' design of new websites. She has clients worldwide and in a variety of industries, and is the go-to-gal for many of our own clients when it comes to website design.

"Having Amy and her organization as a part of my webmaster firm's virtual team has enabled us to raise the bar sky-high in terms of the quality, and speed, at which we deliver for our client family. Our clients report that when Amy is involved in their projects, they feel like family.

If you are privileged to be able to work with designFORMARE, count yourself blessed. I know I do!"

- Adam Hommey,
TheWebsiteSurgeon.com

We've literally been nagging Amy for months now to do this course, and she finally has some space in her super busy schedule to dedicate to this training.

Needless to say, both Cindy and I are excited to be leading these classes with Amy and learning alongside all of you as well. In fact, Amy is going to be showing us how to fix the webpage that you are looking at right now - specifically how to properly apply CSS and 'clean up the code'. I'm ready for the critique Amy, bring it on!

  I'm Game, Count Me In!
